Fall Mai Tai

Fall Mai Tai

Although fall is upon us, we have continued enjoying tiki drinks. We decided to challenge ourselves to come up with a fall tiki cocktail. We had fresh apple cider left over from another project and some lime juice. What do you make with that? How about a Mai Tai! This is close to the traditional Trader Vic’s 1944 Mai Tai but with a few tweaks. This is now a perfect tiki drink you can have in the fall!

Do not skimp on the rum. We used Clement Martinique Rhum. It costs a little more but makes a great cocktail. For the dark rum we decided to use Lemon Hart Original which is unfortunately not sold in the U.S. A good substitute would be El Dorado 12, it has a good caramel note that will be perfect for this fall concoction.
